Credits and exam

To be admitted to the exam, students must first get a credit. The requirements are as following:

A. at least 80% presence at lectures

B. a test (30 multiple choice questions) min. 66% correct answers.

Students can pass the test at the end of lectures or shortly before the exam.

The EXAMINATION is oral. Students draw lots for a pair of questions (questions are coupled in advance, for topics see the following list).

4. Spontaneous intracerebral bleeding in hypertonic patients

5. Treatment methods of intracranial aneurysms

6. Subarachnoid bleed from anurysm and AV malformations. Clinical symptoms.

7. Inflammatory intracranial diseases.

8. Fractures of skull and skull base. CSF leak. Carotid-cavernous fistula.

9. Traumatic spinal syndromes.

10. Principles of stereotaxis, indications for functional stereotactic surgeries (extrapyramidal disorders).

11. Peripheral nerve damage: classification, nerve regeneration after nerve repair surgery, time factors.

12. Surgical treatment of pain.

13. Gamma knife. Principles, use in the treatment of intracranial lesions.

14. Prevention of secondary spinal cord damage. Indication for urgent surgery from the perspective of spinal cord decompression.

15. Chronic nerve compression (entrapment) syndrome. Peripheral nerve tumors.

16. Degenerative diseases of cervical spine, consequences for nervous system. Indications for surgery.

17. Trigeminal neuralgia: symtoms, treatment methods.

18. Brain gliomas (classification, symptomatology, diagnostics, treatment).

19. Surgical approaches to the brain and the spinal cord.

20. Brain edema: types, treatment.

21. Epidural hematoma.

22. Diffuse brain injury: commotion, diffuse axonal injury.

23. Acute and chronic subdural hematoma.

24. Brain herniation. Clinical symptoms.

25. Nerve damage in upper extremities. Clinical symptoms.

26. Cerebellar tumors and tumors of the 4th ventricle (glioma, ependymoma, hemangioblastoma).

27. Congenital anomalies (Chiari malformation, craniostenosis, meningocele).

28. Nerve damage in lower extremities, clinical symptoms.

29. Degenerative diseases of lumbar spine. Indications for surgery.

30. Infratentorial tumors in children.

31. Cauda equina tumors. Clinical symptoms, diagnostics.

32. Brain contusion, traumatic intracerebral bleeding.

33. Spinal tumors. Classification, clinical symptoms.

34. Spine and spinal cord injuries.

35. Principles of surgical treatment of epilepsy.

37. Classification of closed craniocerebral injuries.

38. Hydrocephalus: classification, symptomatology, diagnostics, therapy.

39. Tumors of sellar region (classification, symptomatology, diagnostics, treatment).

40. Consciousness, assessment of impaired state of consciousness.

41. Lumbar root syndrome. Neurogenic claudication. Cauda equina syndrome.

42. Cervical root syndromes. Cervical myelopathy.
